I provide primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Most of the time, I see clients in my office. However, I often work outside my office, making home visits, doing school observations, meeting with scho ol staff, or working with clients to confront their anxieties in the real world (i.e. driving, bridges, restaurants, super markets, malls, etc.)
Extensive studies have shown that CBT is highly effective for a variety of difficulties. I work in collaboration with my clients to address specific problems. I take a focused, practical approach to finding solutions that will fit each unique individual.
My goal is for my clients to feel a sense of confidence and empowerment in their lives. I am strongly committed to providing personalized treatment based on techniques that are known to be effective.
I provide a variety of Coaching Services, including Personal/Life Coaching, Teen Coaching, College Application Coaching, and Parent Coaching. For more information, visit my Coaching page.
I provide educational and motivational talks on a wide variety of topics.
Some of the topics I have addressed: Parenting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Bully Prevention, Obessive-Compulsive Disorder
Some of the groups I have addressed: numerous parent groups in public and private schools from preschool to high school, Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry, Marin General Hospital Pediatric Grand Rounds, NAMI, and UCSF.
For children, the issue may have to do with the school environment, learning differences, giftedness, or temperament. I can provide a detailed evaluation of what is going on with a particular child and help find the best solution. This might be an understanding of your child's temperament and how important it is to have a good fit between your child's temperament and the environment. It might mean finding the ideal educational environment to meet your child's unique intellectual and emotional needs.
I provide bullying prevention training and consultation to schools and organizations. I am a provisionally certified Olweus (pronounced Ole-vay-us) Bully Prevention Program trainer. The Olweus Bully Prevention Program has been shown repeatedly in scientific studies to bring substantial reductions in bullying (Olweus Program).
The Olweus program has earned many awards and recogntitions:
